MTG will strive to dramatically increase the availability of information concerning both healthcare information and the status of their benefit plan to the average consumer, while adhering to a philosophy that recognizes the importance of maintaining quality information in a universe where expediency is demanded by the masses.
Vision
MCA Technologies Group, Inc. (MTG) was founded in 1999. As the technology unit of Managed Care of America, Inc. (MCA), it became the vehicle for centralizing technology within MCA. Historically, each division of MCA was responsible for development and maintenance of their own technologies.

MTG is a leading-edge technology company with:

  • e-zbenefits.com, an Internet Portal, and
  • HealthVAN, an electronic claims and eligibility Value Added Network (under development).
Background
e-zbenefits.com – An Internet Portal with advantages for payors, providers, employers and plan members. Insurance companies, HMOs, and third party payors have been criticized for high administrative cost and slow turn-around of claims. With e-zbenefits.com technology, providers have the ability to submit claims over the Internet and verify their patient’s eligibility and plan of benefits. Any time of the day or night plan members will be able to look up their claims, find providers in their medical, dental, vision and/or pharmacy network, profile medical providers, research health-related topics, keep a personal health record, use interactive health assessment tools, view a physician pre-visit symptom checklist, submit inquiries to the various components of the health plan, view their plan document, member eligibility and more. The employer sponsoring the benefit plan has bulletin board capabilities on their employees’ member site, eligibility review and approval, and reporting. The payor no longer will have the high frequency of phone calls to handle on a demand basis. Because the plan member can research their information on-line, an inquiry that would have previously required human intervention will not be needed in many cases. Inquiries requiring a response will be e-mailed from e-zbenefits.com to the respective customer service units within the health plan, allowing responses to be spread throughout the workday, rather than staffing for the times of the day in which the majority of calls are received (first thing in the morning, lunchtime and after 4:00 p.m.).

HealthVAN - Because of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), it will be necessary for all payors to post eligibility and receive claims via EDI using the Medical Network. Currently, Envoy, NDC, Healtheon/WebMD, and smaller regional clearinghouses command the electronic claims market. Because e-zbenefits.com will already have eligibility, it would require very little additional cost to host as the VAN (Value Added Network) to post eligibility on the Medical Network. With the changes currently underway in the electronic claims market, MTG will be well positioned to act as the VAN for electronic claims.

Research
Our products are designed to respond to the demonstrated needs of our market. New products/services will be incorporated as they are identified. Based on our market analysis, the benefits delivery marketplace is struggling with costs associated with providing information to Plan Members, claim processing costs, and the rapid change in technology. Internet traffic by the average American is increasing at an enormous rate. Using the Internet to communicate with Plan Members lowers associated administrative costs, improves the Plan Members' access to their information, and gives the service provider information that in the past was obtained by written request or a telephone call.

Our parent company, Managed Care of America (MCA), has been in the benefit delivery side of the marketplace since 1973 and has a number of third party payors and other related managed care entities as clients. MCA has a keen understanding of the technology needed in various segments of the health benefit market and knows how to deploy this technology.

The need for an Internet Portal such as e-zbenefits.com has developed, due to the high cost of administration and a shrinking available workforce. In many markets in the U.S., the unemployment rate is below 4%. Of those available for work, few have the technical experience and know-how necessary for health plan administration. e-zbenefits.com offers the ability to alleviate some of the workload, while lowering the cost of administration.

The e-zbenefits.com product offers more than just customer service solutions (claim status; searching for providers, facilities, pharmacies, etc., in their network; inquiries; Plan Document viewing); it also offers individuals the ability to keep their health records and health profile, and provides the ability to research health-related topics.
